Five Good Things - HealthIMPACT Live Goes to ViVE

As we head to HIMSS this week, we are reflecting on the highlights from the ViVE conference.  The HealthIMPACT team was able to attend the ViVE conference in Los Angeles. We were looking for the good news in healthcare, and we were not disappointed.  Here are five of our highlights.

I.    The Daily RECAP from Mike Mosquito  on LinkedIN

Mike Mosquito, CHCIO, MBA, PMP, CDH-E has over 20 years of experience with digital transformation. He spoke over three times at the ViVE event and attended our leadership dinner. His attitude reminds us of the importance of data and collaboration. The critical issue of data bias, its historical impact, and its profound implications in the healthcare landscape is of top concern for tech leaders in a data-hungry industry. Knowing how to build a workforce dedicated to ethical programming, particularly with the emergence of AI, can be the difference between enhanced care delivery and damaging consequences. His session "Mastering Data Like It's Your Most Valuable Asset" was a must attend. He spoke with Andrea Daugherty, CISSP, SHI International, Chani Cordero, San Antonio Military Medical Center, Dr. Zafar Chaudry, MD, MS, MIS, MBA, CITP, Seattle Children's and Stuart James, MBA, NACD.DC, CHRISTUS Health.

II.     EHR Implementation with Epic, Ellit, and You

More health systems are consolidating to unified health records. Judy Faulkner was in attendance at the #Vive2024 event, meeting with leaders at organizations with Epic Systems. One of these organizations is Intermountain Healthcare, implementing Epic across their organization in the next two years. Organizational change like this is best carried out by experts who understand the changes necessary and the expected stress on clinical and IT staff.

III.     Great news from Abridge Health and #GenAI

Leaders from Abridge Health spoke at the #Vive2024 event and highlighted the need for #GENAI innovation and reduction of documentation burden for physicians and healthcare providers. Chief Clinical Officer Tina Shah MD MPH, spoke about the impact clinician burnout has on patient safety and how generative AI technology can play a role in mitigating burnout and improving patient care. Co-Founder and CEO, Shivdev Rao also led discussions about the future of artificial intelligence in healthcare.

Abridge announced a record-making round of funding during the week. The round was one of the largest to date for artificial intelligence to reduce documentation burden.

Their round was led by Lightspeed, who will be joining the board. Other new and existing investors joining the round include co-lead Redpoint Ventures, with support from IVP, Spark Capital, Union Square Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Wittington Ventures, Mass General Brigham Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Fund (AIDIF), Kaiser Permanente Ventures, and CVS Health Ventures.

IV.     Highmark Health and Behavioral Health Care Progress

Highmark Health's summary of the #VIVE2024 conference highlighted initiatives in behavioral health care, data governance, and modernizing prior authorizations, marking a significant advancement in their #LivingHealth strategy. Their CEO, David Holmberg, shared updates about partnerships and behavioral health. The entire conference underscored the importance of payer-provider collaborations, with Highmark announcing a partnership with Epic and Google Cloud to enhance care coordination.

Behavioral health plays an increasingly important role in modern care, and #VIVE2024 had major themes about the growing need for a suite of solutions to address our ongoing behavioral health crisis. Data governance was another key topic, highlighting the necessity of high-quality data for effective use of AI in healthcare.

V.     HealthIMPACT Forum CXO Dinner

We connected with leaders in healthcare in an intimate leadership dinner with partners Neetera, Cognizant, Automation Anywhere and Ellit Groups. Leaders from Memorial Health, Intermountain, Methodist, UC Davis, American Medical Association, El Camino Hospital, Stanford Medicine, Guthrie Clinic, Sutter Health and more convened at a celebratory dinner with the support of our HealthIMPACT Partners. Shahid Shah welcomed everyone with a summary of social determinants of health, health equity, and generative AI. We are thrilled to recognize leaders of IMPACT.
